My Last Day on Earth - finally released!

"My Last Day on Earth" - finally released!

After about 7 years of on again/off again, research, web surveys and various steps toward this day, the short 9-minute film on the crucifixion of Jesus is finally finished. There are several things that are unique about this film, in addition to how various obstacles that were cleared and people that came along at just the right time; it was all - well amazing if not miraculous. A few of the unique aspects to this film:
  • the story was writtne by Barry Cook (director of Disney's 'Mulan') in between his other projects. He remotely supervised assembly of an animatic (thanks to Ovi Nedelcu for his storyboarding skills!), but Barry's vision was always for a Japanese studio to take over final production and make a great film with their unique artistry.
  • it retells the crucifixion story, but through the eyes of the condemned thief (actually, some research indicates he might have been one of the 'zealots' that used violence to defy Rome)
  • it was a partnership with Brethren Entertainment in Seattle and CEO Scott Wong, who had the relational contacts in Tokyo to make this happen
  • Studio 4C re-storyboarded it from the reel we sent (for bid purposes) to lay it out and use a cutting pattern more like what they are used to - they did a great job making it their own
  • Eiko San and director Kano were fascinated to make the film as accurate to the Biblical and historical record as they could - their team supplemented our research with an amazing amount of artistic reference and had many insightful questions
  • through the story is told in a unique way, it was done in a way that only uses dialog from JESUS film translations - so we will have another 20 translations of this film to post soon, and people can request other translations be made from our library over over 1,100 translations of JESUS
So, let us know what you think of the film. Be warned though, the intended audience was teens and older - this film contains graphic depictions of the ancient form of Roman execution by crucifixion; a truly brutal and horrible way to die.

There are 7 other short films that have been written as treatments and could possible be done (see two small early concepts of short ideas here). Please pray for the Lord's guidance on this future possibility as well as that Jesus would be lifted up through this project and for people to be reconciled to God through Him!
